Plus there's lots of land around outside of Heaton Park that could be used for a climbing wall, bar, tennis courts and other stuff. After all the tennis courts at Moston (open to all) got such little use that they converted them into a basketball court.
And of course there are other tennis courts quite nearby too.

Hi Paul, The silly thing is that there are actually already football pitches next to the bowling greens anyway. The Council intend leasing off 6 acres of land around the Bowling greens to a company who inten building 13 (yes 13)5 a side football pitches, a scateboard park, 6 tennis courts, a climing wall, a clubhouse and bar, etc. They will be charging £40 per hour to rent a pitch and intend being open 7 days a week between 9. AM and 11.0 PM. If this is not a sell off then i dont know what is. (Google Save Heaton Park)This destruction of public parkland must not be allowed to go ahead and objections should be sent to Manchester Council by 20th July.
It is the thin end of the wedge, they will allow McDonalds and Costa Coffee in next.

Your comments are quite correct and now Manchester Council are trying to destroy a part of the Park near to St Margaret’s in order to allow a commercial enterprise to make money.
