Mr Manchester shows medical help is a postcode lottery
By Rob on Jul 14, 2007 in Factory Records, Manchester, Mr Manchester, Tony Wilson
Mr Manchester Tony Wilson was on TV this week and it was a desperate sight.
The man behind Joy Division and Factory Records has come through cancer for now.
However, he has been recommended the drug sutent to help keep his condition at bay and then was refused by the local NHS. Luckily, friends are supplying the £3,500 he needs a month to have treatment.
Tony stated that 2 others were also turned down and are probably not as lucky him in having friends that are happy to help him with the bill.
In other areas of the country the drug is available free on the NHS. A time when a Manchester postcode should not be a drawback if ever there was one.
